Retreat to Pine Island Studio, a recording studio on a secluded island in Ontario.

  • An artist residency program for musicians and music organizations to come stay on Pine Island for up to 4 nights to record, write, collaborate and be in nature.

    • 6 residency spots for 2025.

    • 3 are fully funded, 3 are partially funded.

    • Partially funded spots require a minimum commitment of $2000 (plus applicable taxes)

    What’s Included:

    • Access to all available studio equipment and amenities.

    • Engineer for the first day.

    • Artist accommodations including furnished artist cottage, bunkie, and 2 large, fully furnished yurts, linens, towels, cooking utensils, dishes

    • 8 individual beds including: 1 queen bed, 3 doubles, and 2 twin beds per yurt. For larger groups, bringing additional beds, tents, etc is encouraged. Or we can supply at an additional cost.

    • Food is not included.

    • Individual musicians/bands, producers, composers and multidisciplinary artists who are working on a specific creative project (i.e. writing an album)

    • Music industry, arts organizations, and artist collectives who want to apply for a group project for their community or roster such as workshops, songwriting camps, artist development projects, or collaborative sessions

    • Must be active in music within the last 18 months i.e. releases, recording, touring, with active social media

    • Canadian based and orgs must represent and/or support Canadian based artists and initiatives

    • Artists and organizations must show that their work meets exceptional artistic standards relative to their genre or medium while fostering community engagement and innovation.

    • Bonfire Arts Collective is committed to ensuring equitable access to the Pine Island residency. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, identities, and artistic practices to apply.

    • At least 1 guest needs to have a valid boating license

    • Bio(s) and work samples

    • Detailed project proposal

    • Statement on how the residency will benefit them or their artist(s)

    • The residency does NOT include an engineer for the duration of the project. We only provide one on the 1st day to help set up. Applicants should include a lead engineer, producer, and/or project leader in the proposal.

    *A lead engineer can be provided at an additional cost.

  • Additional services can be arranged for extra costs:

    • Engineering assistant or lead engineer for the duration of the stay

    • Additional backline rentals

    • Grocery delivery, catering, and private chef

    • Boating, water sports, tours, fitness and wellness instructors

    • Additional structures like yurts, tents, air mattresses, etc

Does not include an engineer. Does not include groceries.

**Partial funded requires a $2000 commitment.
